CS2 Marketplace Fees: What the Percentage Leaves Out
Compare the fee base and the actual selling route before comparing percentages. The table below applies our fee assumptions to one gross price; your actual payout depends on the operator's current rate.

One percentage, one base, one fixed charge
Charge = gross sale price × percentage / 100 + fixed charge.
Remainder = max(0, gross sale price − charge).
This simple model applies the percentage to gross and then subtracts a fixed amount. It does not automatically include withdrawal, conversion, buyer charges or a second percentage on the remaining balance. When charges exceed gross, the remainder shows as zero.

Fee assumptions at your gross price
| Operator | Fee assumption | Remainder | Meaning and unresolved costs | Operator link |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 13.5% | $86.50 | 13.5% deducted from the buyer price. This is an approximation, not Steam's exact fee rule. Wallet proceeds cannot be cashed out. | Open Steam Market | |
| 1.5% | $98.50 | Estimated 1.5% seller fee. | Check BUFF163 availability | |
| 8% | $92.00 | Standard 8% scenario. The 18 July 2025 announcement also gives items over €1,000 a 6% tier and private sales 2%; this row keeps 8%. | Check Skinport’s listing terms | |
| 2–5% | $95.00 - $98.00 | 2–5% scenario. A 2021 announcement separates sale and withdrawal charges. | Compare exact items on CSFloat | |
| 5% | $95.00 | Estimated 5% seller fee; payout costs are separate. | Inspect a Market.CSGO listing | |
| 2–10% | $90.00 - $98.00 | 2–10% sale scenario. The 2 March 2026 operator page describes liquidity-dependent CS2 sale rates; a trade has a separate rate. | Check DMarket’s current quote | |
| 15% | $85.00 | Estimated 15% seller fee. | Open SkinBaron | |
| 6% | $94.00 | Estimated 6% seller fee. | Check Waxpeer’s order terms | |
| 5–20% | $80.00 - $95.00 | 5–20% Instant Sell scenario. Tradeit's 2 August 2026 guide says only Revenue balance is withdrawable and describes payout processing costs. | Price a Tradeit basket | |
| 8–28% | $72.00 - $92.00 | 8–28% exchange estimate, not a cash-selling commission. Swap.gg's pricing help describes item valuations rather than one rate. | Check a Swap.gg exchange | |
| 5% | $95.00 | Estimated 5% seller fee. | Open SkinBid | |
| 5% | $95.00 | Estimated 5% seller fee. | Open HaloSkins |

A lower selling percentage can still leave less money
Example: a $100 sale with a 5% commission leaves $95. If withdrawal then costs 2% of that balance, $93.10 remains before any fixed or conversion cost. The combined percentage loss is 1 − 0.95 × 0.98 = 6.9%, not 7%. Each rate needs its own base.
For one-stage entered costs of 5% plus $2, the example calculator instead gives $7 deductions and $93 remainder. It is a different model. An unknown withdrawal charge is an unfinished input, not an actual zero-cost payout.
- Identify whether the displayed amount is a seller ask, buyer checkout total, immediate bid or internal exchange valuation.
- Confirm the seller tier and conditions for this exact item. Check whether an advertised private-sale rate requires a separate workflow.
- Find withdrawal percentage and base, fixed charge, currency conversion and recipient costs for an eligible destination.
- Calculate each stage in order, then compare complete proceeds and likely execution at the real price.
Steam's buyer price is a different starting number
Steam's official FAQ separates its 5% transaction fee and the CS2 game's 10% fee, with minimum charges and rounding. Example: if the buyer pays $100 and both rates apply to the seller's item amount, the simplified inverse is $100 / 1.15 ≈ $86.96, rather than $85. The exact sell preview controls the real cents.
Our Steam row deducts 13.5% from a buyer price, producing $86.50 at $100. That is a planning approximation retained by the tool, not a replacement for Steam's formula. Its remainder is Steam Wallet credit; external cash rows cannot be compared as the same kind of payout.
Read a fee range as arithmetic
At a $100 gross price, a 2–10% fee leaves $90–$98 before other charges. Skinport's published tiers and DMarket's item-dependent rates show why the exact transaction matters.
Other rows are estimates. The Swap.gg row is an exchange estimate, so it is not equivalent to a cash-selling fee. Use the notes to see which costs are still missing, rather than sorting the displayed remainders into a universal ranking.
