Tradeit vs Swap.gg: Basket Price and Leftover Credit

For a skin replacement, request the same exact basket on both sites and price the remainder according to whether you will use it. For money, neither site’s ordinary trade balance is the answer: evaluate their separate selling and payout routes.

A fair basket can produce two different winners

Example: the outgoing skins have a realistically accessible net sale value of $100, and the replacement basket costs $92 all-in elsewhere. Tradeit quotes the outgoing skins plus $3, with no remainder. Swap.gg quotes the skins with no top-up and $4 trade credit remaining.

If the credit is useless to you, Tradeit consumes $103 and Swap.gg $100. Their premiums over the $92 cash alternative are $11 and $8 respectively. If all $4 will replace an already planned purchase on acceptable terms, Swap.gg’s effective consumption is $96 and premium $4. This values spending utility; it does not turn the credit into withdrawable money.

Now add a timing requirement: if Swap.gg’s replacement is Reserved beyond the date you need it, the cheaper basket fails the task. If Tradeit’s exact specimen is also unavailable on time, both fail. Final item status is more useful than assuming either brand is always faster.

Why a percentage-only table is misleading

Quotes contain valuations on both sides of the exchange. One venue can credit more for your outgoing knife and charge more for the replacement. Swap.gg describes inventory and liquidity effects without disclosing its full algorithm; Tradeit’s final basket likewise needs inspection. Use final figures and avoid applying an extra fee to a quote that already includes it.

Match float, pattern, stickers and protection status. If you compare different items, you are comparing different purchases. An advertised top-up promotion also does not make leftover balance cash or justify spending beyond the planned basket.

Change the comparison when the goal is money

Tradeit’s official help distinguishes withdrawable Revenue from Trade and Store credit. Swap.gg explicitly says trade balance is not withdrawable and directs cash sellers to Instant Sell. Record the separate selling quote, payout minimum, method, charge and protection wait. A quick acceptance is not bank arrival.

Use the Tradeit guide for the balance calculation and the Swap.gg guide for Reserved value and remainder utility. Choose the route that meets your actual inventory or payment requirement, then compare its full cost.
