Buy a Doppler knife and you are really buying a lottery ticket on one number. The same skin name — Doppler or Gamma Doppler — hides a spread of completely different looks, and the pattern index alone decides which one you get. Get the phase right and you control the price.
The four regular phases
Standard Doppler covers four phases. Phases 1 to 4 each mix purple, blue and black in different proportions, so collectors chase specific looks — a deep-blue Phase 4 or a pink-heavy Phase 2. Among the regular phases, Phase 2 (which shows more pink) typically leads on price, while the others trade closer together.
Gamma Doppler runs a parallel set: Phases 1 to 4 rendered in green tones instead. The two finishes never overlap — a Doppler and a Gamma Doppler of the same knife are separate items with separate markets.
Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald and Black Pearl
Beyond the numbered phases sit the true rarities. On standard Doppler these are Ruby (a saturated red), Sapphire (a pure blue) and the dark, iridescent Black Pearl. Gamma Doppler answers with the Emerald, its green counterpart to Ruby and Sapphire. These are effectively separate, far pricier skins — Ruby and Sapphire can cost multiples of a Phase 1–4 of the same knife.
| Finish | Regular | Rare variants |
|---|---|---|
| Doppler | Phase 1–4 | Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl |
| Gamma Doppler | Phase 1–4 (green) | Emerald |
How the phase changes what you pay
Listings almost always state the phase, but the number is only as trustworthy as the proof behind it. The phase is baked into the pattern index, so an inspection link lets you verify the exact variant before you pay — essential when Ruby money is on the line.
Two more things shape the trade. Doppler knives only ever roll Factory New and Minimal Wear floats, so you never sort through worn conditions — the decision is phase, not wear. And because the same knife spans huge price gaps, always pull the live spread on our Doppler phase prices page, and price a build end-to-end with the knife trade-up calculator before committing.
